Academic Support
In Jeffco and at Parmalee there is a Multi-leveled Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Our collaborative team of teachers and support staff make data-based decisions to increase student performance. Evidence-based curriculums and interventions as well as assessment practices ensure that every student receives what they need to be successful at school.
Parmalee gathers academic data throughout the school year to determine if students would benefit from additional tier two or tier three academic interventions. Progress is monitored frequently for each student’s advancement across core subject areas. Key assessments and progress monitoring tools include:
- Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Map Growth Assessment
- DIEBELS 8 Early Literacy Assessment
- Lexia Learning
Our teachers and academic support staff are also trained in Really Great Reading and Orton-Gillingham through the Institute for Multi Sensory Education to provide evidence-based science of reading instruction and interventions. The Students placed on Reading to Ensure Academic Development (READ) Plans (students identified reading significantly below grade level based on Colorado’s READ Act) receive tier two instruction using these curriculum interventions and monitor progress throughout the year.
